Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

308 Sextile Moon - Sun

Positive brief aspect: Your vitality gets a boost. Cooperation comes easily. Friendships and connections are favored. Some calm moments are of great benefit now.

270 Conjunction Mercury - Lilith

Positive short-term aspect: This transit inspires you to make interesting changes. The usual routine doesn't inspire you today. You might decide to go out to new places and meet fascinating people. You are motivated to do things that you always wanted to do but that you only dreamed of trying. Conversations or observations can be revealing.

-169 Opposition Neptune - Mercury

Challenging aspect: You may have problems concentrating at work. You could be distracted, even "deaf" to others, or inattentive. You may have some troubles following routines and applying yourself, in general. Your professional life may suffer from such behavior. Hassles seem to abound now.

This long-term transit can point to lack of clarity and objectivity. You might make embarrassing errors, neglect important details, or you could carry some delusions now. It may be difficult for others to understand you or you might be communicating in such a way that you are not clear. You are more imaginative and easily swayed by the opinions of others. You can be highly creative and inspired under this influence, but you could also be overly sensitive, touchy, or impractical now. You might find it especially challenging to follow routines, to concentrate or focus on monotonous tasks or work, and to focus on academic subjects that require attention to detail or rote learning.

Strategies: Be wary of signing new contracts, getting objective advice before beginning new ventures. Watch carefully for a tendency toward sloppy thinking or ignoring important practical details. Otherwise, this can be a time of losing something special through neglect.

Positive brief aspect: You are able to keep a cool head, making it a favorable few hours to take care of business and practical matters. You are taking responsibility.

110 Sextile Pluto - Jupiter

Positive long-term aspect: This is a long-lasting transit that lasts more than a year. During this time you have the opportunity to make huge strides in your work, to attain success in your endeavors, and (if other factors support it) gain financially. You discover some of your wisdom and are able to tap into it in order to make advances in your professional life. There is some sense of feeling luckier than usual, and this confidence puts you in the right place at the right time. You are more tolerant than usual.

You may change your belief system and focus a lot on your personal philosophy. This is a time of learning, when you gain more wisdom and knowledge that greatly impacts your ability to succeed in life. There may be financial windfalls - as simple as winning a small lottery or paying off debt, and more dramatic if the natal chart "promise" supports wealth. This can be a period when dealings with the law have favorable outcomes. You instinctively know how to catch every possible opportunity in flight. It's a time to seize opportunities and to trust in your lucky star, of course within reason. Your professional life should be full of successes, and you may be promoted.

Positive aspect: Good period. You are in a good mood, business should go well, love life relatively smooth, and your spirits are good. You are appreciating the finer things in life and expanding your horizons. Generally, you are in good humor and others seem to see you in a good light. You are generous with yourself and others now.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
