Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

478 Conjunction Venus - Mercury

Positive short-term aspect: Good creative period, especially if you are artistic, but pleasing for all. You are in great form and in good humor. You may want to travel, see new people, talk, and exchange ideas. You are more charming than usual, and more diplomatic. It's a good time for gaining understanding, charming, persuading, and communicating well.

470 Conjunction Neptune - Sun

Positive long-term aspect: You want to achieve something amazing at this time.

You are seeking perfection on moral or aesthetic levels. In your search for the ideal or the absolute, you become more humane and more protective of other people. Your feelings are sincere. Material matters are the last thing on your mind, and this is good for you to an extent, but keeping your feet on the ground is a good idea. Note that the trine and sextile aspects are easier and more flowing than the conjunction aspect, which can feel more direct and intense.

This can be a time when the unusual becomes ordinary or everyday--life is different, magical, and sometimes confusing. You are more sensitive and open. A new purpose that is more altruistic, spiritual, or less material in nature may come about in the year of this transit.

441 Conjunction Saturn - Mercury

Flowing longer-term aspect: You more often than not find yourself in perfect control of yourself. You are more attentive and thoughtful during the months of this transit. You are patient and determined, precise and meticulous, whether at work or in everyday life.

You are less likely to make mistakes since you're inclined to study all the possibilities, weigh up the for/against or pros/cons lists, all with objectivity. It's a very good period to undertake a difficult and long job. You seem to have all the necessary tools and talents for success.

You benefit from a mature, realistic, grounded perspective. You might put an idea into practical motion. Studies are favored. You may be a little more absorbed in your work or interests and a bit less sociable. Boosted relationships with elders. A good period for business.

-284 Opposition Jupiter - Ascendant

Challenging longer-term aspect: You very much need your independence and freedom at this time. You might live beyond your means, or your aims may not be met because they are unrealistic. Watch for being a little careless, lazy, or lackadaisical during this period, since you are easily distracted. A time when you might think things will just fall into your lap but you may not know how to grasp the opportunities that DO arise. Do watch for deals that seem great but that are weak at the seams. Also try not to take unncessary risks at this time.

-215 Opposition Venus - Saturn

Challenging short-term aspect: Be careful in love. It's not the time to ask for favors. There could be feelings of rejection today. You may feel the weight of responsibilities, especially social, romantic, and financial ones, more acutely today. This feeling will pass. Remember your worth but don't give into the the temptation to prove yourself to others. Be patient.

136 Trine Moon - Jupiter

Positive brief aspect: Elevated moods. There can be emotional relief in the hours of this transit. Good for domestic, legal, publishing, real estate, promotional, and educational matters, all things considered. A better time to buy a lottery ticket if you are so inclined.

-135 Opposition Saturn - Saturn

Challenging aspect: This influence is a sobering one. It reinforces all the more challenging sides of Saturn in the birth chart. To evaluate this aspect, you must take another look at your birth chart. It is a period when you could suffer small setbacks, reverses, or disappointments in areas that have become wasteful or neglected. You tend to look for solitude and tranquility to think things over, to re-examine yourself, or to try to overcome trials and problems. This can be a crossroads period for you.

115 Trine Mercury - Saturn

Positive short-term aspect: You are taking your time and tend to think carefully before making the smallest decision. You are disciplined mentally today. The emphasis is now on long-range planning, thinking about future security, and formulating strategies to achieve your ambitions. Your ability to study quietly, to concentrate on complex mental work, and to think deeply about serious matters is much better than usual. This is a good time to organize your affairs and also to seek professional advice about your concerns. This short transit lasts only a couple of days.

110 Sextile Uranus - Uranus

Positive aspect: There will certainly be a change in your life, and most likely, a change for the better. You are answering to yourself more and more, as you are less concerned with the approval of others. The key is not taking this to extremes, and fortunately, this trend helps you free yourself from certain restrictions and yet stay grounded.

72 Trine Mars - Uranus

Flowing short-term aspect: You feel in top form and able to take the initiative. You feel the desire or need to be much more independent than usual. You can have lots of great ideas that you put into practice. Your desires are unusual and insistent, and you are in the mood to do something different. A good time to go with your hunches if other transits agree.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
