Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

621 Conjunction Moon - Moon

Positive brief aspect: Feelings are promiment. Life is more colorful and you are especially sensitive. Something or someone speaks your emotional language now. A better time to bond with others and to take care of domestic matters.

361 Conjunction Mercury - Mars

Positive short-term aspect: You are full of energy, and can take on the work of Hercules. You can be eager to share your ideas and you may be especially expressive. It's a good time to be objective about--or to analyze--what drives you and the things you feel passionate about.

351 Conjunction Pluto - Mercury

Positive long-term aspect: This should be a very good period, especially on the intellectual front. This is the moment to take stock, to think over everything you have seen and learned, and to put these things to good use. This period, which can last several months and sometimes a year or more, is a time when you can be full of wisdom. You see things more deeply, and get to the heart of your thoughts. You are interested in discovering the deep truth--what's beneath the surface. If there are secrets that you've been unwilling to share, you are likely to begin talking or thinking about them now. Or, you may become privy to other people's secrets and hidden lives.

331 Conjunction Neptune - Venus

Positive longer-term aspect: You feel more spiritual and sensitive now. This can be a magical time. You aim to be refined, and your subtlety will increase. You are mostly in good humor and your increased patience helps you appreciate life more than usual. You may fall in love with someone you admire--someone whose charm intrigues and captivates you. It's a time for appreciating the idea of, for example, listening to special music in a pleasant room with filtered light!

You are more sensitive than ever to emotional stimulus at this time, as your love or pleasure nature is heightened, open, and perhaps vulnerable to influence. You are opening up your heart, which can also mean you are more vulnerable to romantic illusions. You find yourself especially idealistic, romantic, and charming. You are very easily charmed as well, and you must watch for a tendency to see what you want to see in romantic partners.

You may gloss over important details and practical concerns in favor of idealistic visions and perceptions. Your desires are tender and compassionate. You are responsive to all things pleasurable. Try not to borrow from your future, not just with finances. Force yourself to consider practical matters, even if you feel a little resistant to the process, while opening your heart to new possibilities. And, while opening your heart to new possibilities, be sure to use some common sense.

Your values are shifting during the course of this long-term transit. You are learning to share yourself--your sympathy and compassion--with others, and to give of yourself more openly. You are more attuned to the world of beauty, the arts, and the imagination. Compassion, harmony, kindness, and openness are themes now. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. This can be a "magical" time on a romantic and social level. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. You see the very best in people now, and this eases your interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships. Romance is highly favored.

309 Conjunction Neptune - Mars

Positive longer-term aspect: You are in great form during this transit that usually lasts over a year. You are likely to realize your plans with verve and impetuousness. The world belongs to you and nothing can stop you in flight. A successful time when certain areas of your life seem to fall into place. This can be a time of discovery on sexual, assertive, and desire levels.

-290 Opposition Mars - Ascendant

Challenging short-term aspect: You can have too much energy to spare, and might be imprudent and too easily look for a quarrel over something inconsequential. It can be difficult to channel all your energy. You might be angry, not able to stand contradiction, and you might act without thinking and too abruptly under this transit. Watch for mishaps resulting from hastiness and lack of forethought.

You may rub others the wrong way now, as they sense your impatience or they feel that you're not considering their needs. You might fumble when you go after what you want, as your confidence seems forced. You can feel irritable and tense under this influence. Restlessness and impatience are likely now, but if you keep things under control, it is a great time to learn more about your needs and desires.

236 Sextile Saturn - Ascendant

Positive longer-term aspect: You are serene, placid, and in full possession of your faculties during the months of this supportive transit. You are more able to control or contain yourself, and your words are more thought out and calculated. You are serious and people trust you. You are likely to plan things out before undertaking them, and things tend to go as planned. This is a good time for self-discipline, moderation, and implementing health programs and regimens.

-154 Opposition Jupiter - Uranus

Challenging longer-term aspect: This is a time when you crave release from limiting ideas and situations. There is a stronger desire than usual to be free and independent, and to make some form of breakaway from your past. This could mean a divorce in extreme cases, but can be as simple as releasing a bad attitude or habit. You should watch for exaggerated perceptions, which is something to consider with all Jupiter transits. For example, a tie that previously went unquestioned might now be considered limiting, or you could be seeing people or circumstances as now being "in your way," blocking your desires and plans. Watch that your plans are not beyond your means or ability to carry out. Your emotional or family life could be a little stormy now if you are not self-aware and mindful. Otherwise, if you keep your feet on the ground, it can be a good time to discover new perspectives and methods that you previously hadn't noticed or even knew you needed.

118 Trine Uranus - Ascendant

Positive aspect: This is a long-term transit that can last months at a time. You have a pronounced individualistic personality during this long-term trend. You are more original and appreciated by your circle.

There can be a strong attraction to someone in your life who is very unconventional, or someone who has very strong Aquarian qualities. There is nothing dull about you during this transit. Increased freedom is needed in relationships if they are to survive and you seek new interests, hobbies, or studies. You can be mre fascinated or attracted to unusual avenues for expression, to technical or scientific areas, or to new causes and ideas. Sudden contacts can bring wonderful opportunities to you, and travel is favored as well.

Relationships can be exciting although this aspect alone doesn't speak to longevity. Unexpected partnerships in business can develop, but wait until after this transit is over to see if the bond remains strong. This transit is more about bringing more excitement and progress to your life than it is about creating long-lasting connections.

117 Trine Mercury - Saturn

Positive short-term aspect: You are taking your time and tend to think carefully before making the smallest decision. You are disciplined mentally today. The emphasis is now on long-range planning, thinking about future security, and formulating strategies to achieve your ambitions. Your ability to study quietly, to concentrate on complex mental work, and to think deeply about serious matters is much better than usual. This is a good time to organize your affairs and also to seek professional advice about your concerns. This short transit lasts only a couple of days.

There will certainly be some unexpected things happening to shake up the usual routine. It is recommended not to do anything foolish, not to take part in any dangerous sports, to avoid anything risky and not to take chances at work to limit damage. Positively, you are questioning the established structures, rules, and limitations in your life, and if you approach making changes in a reasonable manner, you can find healthy ways to move forward.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
