Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

497 Conjunction Jupiter - Sun

Flowing longer-term aspect: Sometimes, unexpected windfalls come during this transit, but opportunities must be identified and seized. Reasonable investments are generally favored at this time, but it's a good idea to factor in the condition of the natal Sun, as well as the nature of other transits occurring at the same time. If the Sun is challenged, you may not have the best judgment at this time.

It's an excellent time to start new long-term projects. You might find that you feel more vital, confident, and optimistic about the future at this time. It's a good time to resolve conflicts. Events may give your ego a boost, and you could be feeling quite vital and alive. Take advantage of this by promoting yourself or putting yourself "out there."

As you prepare for this transit, consider whether you want to begin a new long-term project, and try to launch it at the time of the transit (assuming there are not very prohibitive concurrent transits). Ego gratification is the theme of this transit. This is the start of a "new you" -- a more confident and faithful person.

Short Description: You are in top form, really healthy, in good spirits. You are full of get up and go, your professional affairs pose no difficulty. Problems resolve with alarming ease. Your good mood, your optimism, your good-heartedness help you and bring you the protection of influential people.

-221 Opposition Mercury - Jupiter

Challenging short-term aspect: This short transit warns that decisions you make today may be faulty, and that exaggeration is likely. Avoid signing contracts, as you are not seeing things clearly right now. As well, avoid stretching the truth or spreading rumors.

143 Trine Mars - Sun

Positive aspect: A period when you may be in top physical shape. From a mental point of view, thanks to your physical form, you can be full of go, confidence, and ready to do a thousand things. You may be full of bravado, courageous, determined, and bubbly. You have more confidence in your ability to get things done, and you are not inclined to stop long enough to doubt yourself.

You should harness this energy and take advantage of this time to tackle projects or problems. Difficulties can disappear - things that previously stumped you might now seem obvious to you. Things are more black and white.

During this period that typically lasts a few days, you are more likely to succeed in what you take on and you're inclined to finish all your jobs. Very good time to enter a competition, whether for sport or business. Some of you might begin a love affair now.

-136 Square Venus - Mercury

Challenging short-term aspect: You can be somewhat wrapped up in yourself - not very talkative and preferring to stay at home rather than go out with friends. You can be bothered by something someone says. You are more sensitive than usual. Your words may be misunderstood or overlooked.

-130 Opposition Venus - Pluto

Challenging short-term aspect: Intense attractions or repulsions can occur now. Something can stir your jealousy, and this can be revealing since it helps you see desires you may not have known existed. Watch for pressuring people or trying too hard to get others or situations to go by your own script.

-129 Square Mars - Venus

Challenging short-term aspect: You could experience love/hate feelings, passionate, irrational love, about a person, situation, or cause. You may find it difficult to control your feelings and could act impulsively. You may be possessive, jealous, or completely immersed to your very depths by a passion or feeling. As there is very little chance that others are matching your desires just for now, there may be scenes or disappointments. Your work may suffer from this situation if only your emotional life seems to count in your mind. You can be very demanding of others while this transit lasts.

115 Trine Moon - Mars

Positive brief aspect: This can be time of emotional arousal, energy, and a need for more excitement in your life.

-110 Opposition Neptune - Mars

Challenging aspect: You may be prone to acting on fear or as the result of an overworked imagination during this rather long-term transit that can last for some months. There is a lot of drama in your life at this time! You are far more sensitive than usual. You may sometimes find it challenging to stay in control of yourself and your actions, and thinking things through is also difficult or less natural than usual.

You should stay close to those people who in normal times reassure you. Someone who is able to reason with you and calm you down can be a true help now, but be sure to listen to that voice of reason!

Although your focus may be compromised and physical energy scattered, there is a strong potential for you to improve your intuition and magnetic powers. You may be in the right place at the right time. The effects of this transit will have much to do with the condition of Mars in your chart. You might be tempted to take shortcuts or you often feel that you don't know where you are headed exactly, and attract negative influences as a result. You may feel uninspired or lazy due to lack of motivation or a feeling of being directionless or anchorless in life. You may have a hard time drumming up the confidence to move forward.

On the other hand, you can be extremely inspired if your personality is extroverted, and/or if you work with Neptune instead of against it. Neptune wants you to become more refined with your desire nature, anger management, and assertive tendencies. Incorporating more imagination, compassion, and spirituality into these parts of your personality will help you to not only "manage" the transit, but to learn from it.

89 Trine Venus - Neptune

Positive short-term aspect: You can feel in good humor without really knowing why. Even with nothing new in your life, a veil of happiness surrounds you anyhow. You feel the need for, or have an opportunity to, enjoy quiet pleasures. You could help out a loved one and feel great about it. A time to show compassion. Gentleness brings rewards and attracts the right things to you. A romantic or imaginative time.

82 Trine Uranus - Mars

Positive longer-term aspect: You are energetic, strong, resistant, spirited, trustworthy, hardy, and resolute. You make decisions quickly, and you seem to be able to achieve your ambitions. You are able to face any kind of problem and resolve it, with the necessary courage.

You're keeping relationships alive and exciting. You are seeking more freedom of movement and choice.

You can be attracted to a virile, strong person with an out-of-the-ordinary personality, but it's possible that after this transit has come and gone, you may wonder why you were so attracted.

This is a fabulous time for discovering your desires and capabilities anew. You have more courage and confidence, so be sure to ride this wave! You may be an entrepreneur now--independence becomes you.

81 Trine Pluto - Moon

Positive longer-term aspect: You may want to distinguish yourself from other people by a new attitude to life.

During this long-term period, relationships deepen and grow, and penetrate to a very personal level. You become more in touch with what motivates you and drives you, as well as your deepest needs and wants.

55 Trine Mars - Midheaven

Positive aspect: You are in top form, full of vitality. Your professional affairs, and your energy to undertake them, guarantee you success. This transit helps you succeed in almost every action, every deed - thanks to your energy, boldness, self-confidence and swiftness of action.

48 Trine Jupiter - Midheaven

Positive longer-term aspect: A time to make progress and achieve what you intend on the professional level. You know how to grasp your opportunities. You may succeed more through the support of friends and colleagues than by your own personal qualities at this time. Obstacles may fall out of your way. Your reputation gets a nice boost. A time of more meaningful work or sense of purpose.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
