Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

665 Conjunction Moon - Moon

Positive brief aspect: Feelings are promiment. Life is more colorful and you are especially sensitive. Something or someone speaks your emotional language now. A better time to bond with others and to take care of domestic matters.

460 Conjunction Uranus - Moon

Positive longer-term aspect: This transit associates independence with imagination. It's a time for a creative streak. You are on a quest for novelty, originality, and innovation in your activities. You are more sociable and meet new people during this time. You could meet one person who you're very attracted to and who blows your mind. This is a busy time when your activities or routines get a boost or rehaul, and you can meet out-of-the-ordinary people.

Your feelings bubble up from within, and your sense of humor is excellent. The child within emerges. Your days are refreshed. Many of your habits or familiar routines or personal environment can change and improve. You are seeking--and finding--alternatives. Old pastimes come back.

A brighter, happier, or more lively home life is likely now. New or updated living conditions/arrangements can be a theme.

-180 Opposition Mercury - Saturn

Challenging short-term aspect: You take your time and think carefully before making the slightest decision today, but you run the risk of losing contracts by your lack of spontaneity and vivacity. There could be a lack of confidence now. If you're not getting your message across, it may be that you're not expressing your ideas or communications with enough confidence and positivity. It may also be that others are being close-minded. Plans may need to be reworked. Wait things out if possible.

130 Trine Sun - Mars

Positive short-term aspect: A time to recognize your desires, your initiatives, your enterprising side, and/or your need for action! You are taking the wheel now, creating opportunities.

-122 Opposition Pluto - Mars

Challenging aspect: You may have more energy than you know how to channel during the months of this transit. You could have big bursts of anger that erupt from within and surprise you. Uncontrolled angry behavior can cause you a lot of problems.

Your ambition and drive to succeed are powerful at this time. You may feel driven and can be compulsive or obsessed, easily engaging in power struggles. Pluto is transforming your basic drive, your desire nature, your anger, and your assertiveness, and it's time for an overhaul. The process is rich, eye-opening, and rewarding, but it can also be confusing and intense while it lasts. You are discovering parts of yourself that you may not have been (or barely) in touch with previously. Anger and resentment can come bursting forth to the surface and it can be hard to know where to direct it and how to effectively manage it. You might discover possessive, jealous, and controlling aspects of your personality that surprise you. Obsession of some sort is likely now as you learn how to manage your anger, sexual drive, and energy levels.

You are learning to focus your energy and rid yourself of wasteful or unnecessary activities. You can apply yourself to specific projects, competitive or individual sports, and other activities with much determination, focus, and concentration now. The aim should be to weed out problematic areas, ego attachments, and bad habits that have been holding you back from living in the best possible way. During the course of this transit, you might find yourself perhaps obsessively attracted to sexual taboos or activities that you haven't yet explored, the "darker" side of sexuality, or a specific sexual relationship (some people meet a new lover at this time that transforms their lives in some significant way). Attraction to secrets is possible now. You may be dealing with so much beneath the surface of things that you are not as available to others as you were previously. Resentments and old angers come up now, sometimes with surprising force, and they may seem uncontrollable. You are acting on impulse more than you are listening to reason, and you should keep a close eye on this. As well, you can be very single-minded under the influence of this transit, and possibly very persistent about getting your way.

95 Trine Saturn - Mars

Positive longer-term aspect: Good physical resistance and stamina. You are more able to undertake lengthy tasks without tiring yourself out.

You are more realistic during this transit but perhaps a little too hard at times. Work can take up much of your time these days, and seems to count above everything else. You are less tolerant of contradiction, criticism, or debate. You may temporarily distance yourself from family or your emotional life can be less active for now.

You are not especially tender or sentimental during this transit. It's a good time for getting some hard work done since you pay less attention to your emotions and concern yourself more with practical affairs.

Disciplining yourself is easier. You are more in touch with your body, seeing it for what it is, and you might begin exercise programs during this transit. (This is, incidentally, one of the best aspects for starting an exercise routine, another being Saturn trine Ascendant).

Themes now are self-discipline and self-motivation, a cooling of the passions, increased focus on work, and a sense of purpose. You feel in control of your passions and impulses, and you face life with more purpose and maturity. You are practical, and your progress in most projects is perhaps slow but steady. This transit lasts several months.

-67 Square Saturn - Uranus

Challenging aspect: You might feel that every time you do something, want to change something, make changes, or innovate, you meet a brick wall. It can feel as if you are dogged by bad luck. However, with ith such a transit, it is advisable to stick to the run-of-the-mill, peacefully doing little to change your habits. Pay special attention not to break the law, drive carefully and, above all, follow the rules of the road. This is a time for considering ways that rebellious behavior may have hindered your progress, and taming things. Look for ways to bring more structure to your ideals and goals.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
