Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

444 Conjunction Jupiter - Ascendant

Positive longer-term aspect: This transit helps smooth out the life and is especially helpful if other more challenging aspects are concurrently active. You are in better health with plenty of energy that you know how to channel. You are more outgoing and talkative. Luck seems on your side, and you are ready to achieve the goals you set yourself. A good time for your personal appeal, legal matters, and gaining cooperation from others.

426 Conjunction Sun - Jupiter

Positive short-term aspect: All things considered, your timing or confidence are strong now, leading to good outcomes. You are motivated and you're guided by a strong inner direction.

386 Conjunction Mercury - Mars

Positive short-term aspect: You are full of energy, and can take on the work of Hercules. You can be eager to share your ideas and you may be especially expressive. It's a good time to be objective about--or to analyze--what drives you and the things you feel passionate about.

367 Conjunction Neptune - Mercury

Positive long-term aspect: You are more creative than ever in your work and perhaps inspired to write and share. You could be interested in the mystical arts, and your intuition is prominent (or you are listening to it more often). This is a longer-lasting transit that can be influence for more than a year, and points to a lengthy period when your senses are awakened, you are extremely creative, and especially expressive. Your speech may slow down a tad as a reflection of your increased sensitivity to the world around you. You are absorbing things from your environment differently than before. This is a good time for writing fiction and any undertaking that requires imaginative expression.

You may be somewhat sensitive to criticism. You are inclined to expect others to be as sincere as you are, and you should probably avoid subjecting yourself to situations that are too abrasive or harsh right now, if possible. If signing a contract, get advice from an objective individual first, simply because you expect the best from others now, and you may open yourself up to deception as a result. This is a good time for all intellectual work. You are likely to resolve many of your problems, sometimes with alarming ease. Your mental powers at this time border on the uncanny. Be prepared to be inspired by a line of thought, event, or piece of news--in a life-changing way.

287 Conjunction Jupiter - Saturn

Positive longer-term aspect: Difficulties and hurdles can disappear now thanks to unexpected help. Life can suddenly become easier, simpler. Business gets into shape and follows its normal course or problems minimize. You are more compassionate with yourself and generous. You are not as strict in your assessments or black and white in your viewpoint in a particular area of your life.

220 Conjunction Pluto - Jupiter

Positive long-term aspect: This is a long-lasting transit that lasts more than a year. During this time you have the opportunity to make huge strides in your work, to attain success in your endeavors, and (if other factors support it) gain financially. You discover some of your wisdom and are able to tap into it in order to make advances in your professional life. There is some sense of feeling luckier than usual, and this confidence puts you in the right place at the right time. You are more tolerant than usual.

You may change your belief system and focus a lot on your personal philosophy. This is a time of learning, when you gain more wisdom and knowledge that greatly impacts your ability to succeed in life. There may be financial windfalls - as simple as winning a small lottery or paying off debt, and more dramatic if the natal chart "promise" supports wealth. This can be a period when dealings with the law have favorable outcomes. You instinctively know how to catch every possible opportunity in flight. It's a time to seize opportunities and to trust in your lucky star, of course within reason. Your professional life should be full of successes, and you may be promoted.

117 Trine Mars - Mercury

Positive aspect: You feel in top form, energetic, and sharp. You want to move about, go out, and meet new people. You seem to know how to express your ideas in a good-humored way, frankly, sincerely, and convincingly. Generally a good time for business with the possibility of new contracts. This is a fine time to get going on a project or for doing some studying. Your ideas are original, and you want to go your own way with them.

-110 Square Moon - Saturn

Challenging brief aspect: In the hours of this brief and frequently occurring transit, you can feel a little overwhelmed with your responsibilities or obligations. Perhaps some misunderstandings are part of this. You may be feeling a pinch or dealing with a "no."

-93 Opposition Jupiter - Lilith

Challenging aspect: You might re-examine your work, asking yourself whether you are truly doing well or whether a particular person in your life is truly trustworthy. It may be better to take a break and think things all the way through instead of doing something regrettable or impulsive. Keep in mind that you may be seeing a problem in an exaggerated way just for now.

Positive long-term aspect: This is a time of a renewed sense of purpose. You can feel excited about your resources, talents, creative vision, and passions. You feel strongly that you can make a difference.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
