Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

364 Conjunction Pluto - Sun

Positive long-term aspect: You may be very ambitious during this period that can be with you for a year or more. These ambitions can be achieved, for example, through a more interesting and better-paid job within your current place of employment, in a new job where you have a management position and you must reorganize, restructure, and put things in order, or your current work is more meaningful and improved. This work can totally absorb you. It's a time for self-improvement or an improved position.

This is a potentially empowering time in your life when your personality is more vibrant, magnetic, focused, and resolute. You might take up a pleasantly consuming new hobby, line of work, or interest now. You might also begin a new health program (body, mind, or spirit) that improves your outlook on life. You might kick a bad habit or rid yourself of undesirable attitudes that have held you back from success in the past. You are less likely to gloss over problem areas in your life, attitude, personality, body, and mind, and you can be determined to make changes.

-283 Opposition Sun - Mars

Challenging short-term aspect: Today can involve some frustrated desires, restlessness, or perhaps conflict, especially if wills and egos are involved. Not the best transit for timing.

-236 Opposition Jupiter - Sun

Challenging longer-term aspect: While this is technically a challenging aspect, it's one of the better ones! Even so, there is a tendency to wastefulness and faulty decision-making due to over-optimism or arrogance now. Avoid making any large purchases during this transit, as you might find that once Jupiter passes, you didn't really need the item. Jupiter boosts your ego, and it is up to you how to handle it. Your ambitions may outstrip your abilities just for now. You may be too vain, impertinent, or self-satisfied. Watch for abusing the good things in life--too many big meals or substantial over-spending, for example. Your methods for achieving success could be against the rules. Avoid making decisions that you know in your heart are not for the better good.

193 Conjunction Pluto - Venus

Positive long-term aspect: You can be attracted to an unusual person whose charm bewitches you. You are transformed by love and encounter passion that may have been heretofore missing in your life. You may fall in love during this period, and if the transit is already in effect, you may have already met someone who affects you deeply. This can be a very consuming relationship - one that is filled with passion and that cannot be taken lightly. There is great depth of feeling and attachment. You are energized, intrigued, and in love. You may engage in more sexual activity than usual. Alternatively, this can be a time for a new pleasure or hobby that is consuming and involving. This might also be a time for an improved financial state. Strategy in business and with money comes more easily.

102 Trine Uranus - Sun

Positive longer-term aspect: This transit excites your senses. You're taking some personal risks, you're more sociable, and you are expressing yourself more confidently. You realize that you, too, need other people. You may want to work with amazing people. You are more attentive to others and will try to understand them. With work, your prestige is likely to grow thanks to the people factor.

You are enthusiastic, ready to try new things, and more creative or spontaneous. You are feeling freer than usual, and new ventures are attractive. Unexpected good fortune may find you.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
