Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

490 Conjunction Jupiter - Moon

Flowing longer-term aspect: You may be looking to improve your home life and domestic affairs. At the root of this is a desire for more security and a stronger home base or foundation. It's a friendly time when you are more approachable and personally popular. Take advantage of this time by resolving conflicts with those in your personal circle. It could be a good time to buy a home or change residence, although you might want the biggest and the best home with the way you are feeling at this time! You have a stronger sense of humor and you seem to derive more pleasure from life. Follow your heart, expand your personal circle, spice up your home, and improve your close relationships. Your sincere and warm demeanor attracts success. Do something to improve your domestic life--whether it's simple re-decorations, bigger renovations, or enjoying family outings.

Your spirits are high. It can be a time of sweet dreams and a peaceful, loving, and happy family life. You might do some work or buy something to make your home more comfortable and pretty or get a room ready for a baby, because it is a fertile period for you. If you are single, it's a good time to meet someone to love. You enjoy going out and meeting people and you are likely to meet a soul twin or friend.

355 Sextile Sun - Moon

Positive short-term aspect: This time of year often brings you smooth, easy energy and perhaps some pleasant news or developments in your personal life, with family, or related to the home. People are a little friendlier, and life seems more doable.

-226 Opposition Jupiter - Mercury

Challenging longer-term aspect: If you are now encountering some problems in your communications with others, it may be because you are not listening very well! Likewise, if your business dealings are frustrating at this time, it could be because you are not seeing the trees for the forest. Try not to gloss over critical details, and don't jump into anything without first considering the consequences. This may be an extremely busy time for you--the phone is ringing off the hook, you feel slightly behind in what you're doing, and you can be overwhelmed with all of the activity around you. With everything that is going on, it can be hard to keep track of everything and it's difficult to see things straight. You can be too optimistic about your chances of success and your ambitions are likely greater than your ability or means to carry them out. Be careful not to promise more than you can deliver. You may well have problems if you enter into any commercial transactions in this period. It would be better to avoid starting something brand new on the professional or emotional front during these weeks.

174 Trine Sun - Mercury

Positive short-term aspect: An idea day! You are more inclined to give something thought or to converse with others. Making connections. Conversations are flowing. It's a good time for clarifying a matter, all things considered.

148 Trine Moon - Venus

Positive brief aspect: You are looking to harmonize, blend, and cooperate. You are more attractive or compromising. Feelings are strong and affections feel good. A good time for romance, decorating, pampering, beauty treatments, parties, and social events. Listen to your heart.

-109 Square Mars - Jupiter

Challenging short-term aspect: Your judgment may be hasty for the time being. You might act imprudently and you could feel conflicted. You can be hard-put to achieve what you want and might be tempted to use somewhat dubious methods to do this, which should be avoided. The tendency can be noisy or too imposing. You could over-spend. You might take uncalculated risks and suffer from a lack of a sense of proportion.

You may be boastful or arrogant in manner right now, and you tend to overestimate your capabilities. Watch for these things, since you are in control! The tremendous energy you have at your disposal now should be used constructively or you might find you are just spinning your wheels. You can be a little too forward-looking, forgetting or ignoring important details. Your ideas or plans may be too big. You can be excitable and competitive. Look before you leap!

109 Conjunction Pluto - Neptune

Positive long-term aspect: You find it hard to stand any constraint at this time. A rebirth can happen now as you re-examine your beliefs, dreams, and dependencies. You are seeking more than the ordinary. You're discovering the power of your intuition, and creative insight increases. Letting go of dreams that are no longer serving you well can be liberating.

-104 Square Neptune - Sun

Challenging aspect: You have a strong tendency to take your wishes as reality at this time. You might even lose some sense of reality and hang onto illusions during the months of this transit. You might unwittingly give a false picture of yourself to your circle-- not necessarily because you are meaning to, but because you are not yet in touch with you are or who you want to be.

Your personal sense of reality changes dramatically during the course of this long-term transit. You are more sensitive than ever, and by transit's end, ideally you'll have found ways to tap into your devoted nature. You have a strong desire for peace and harmony, and perhaps some sense that you have to make sacrifices to achieve that end. Your body itself can be extra sensitive, and you should be cautious with drugs as a result.

You may behave in an impractical manner, or you may be vulnerable to deception or betrayal from others. You may undergo a crisis of identity during the initial stages of this transit, and the experiences you have may lead you to a more refined understanding of yourself and the direction in which you want to head. This can be a time of illusions and confusion, or it can be a very inspired time, and most likely a combination of the two!

Recognizing that you need more from your life on a spiritual level can help you handle the transit more constructively. Strategies: Be gentle with yourself, but consider that you need more balance, realism, and moderation in your life to keep things level. Remind yourself of your usual boundaries and limits; and, if you are tempted to push well beyond them, second-guess these urges.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
