Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

136 Conjunction Pluto - Saturn

Positive longer-term aspect: This transit lasts several months and often weaves in and out of your life over the course of a year or more. It signals a period when you take your responsibilities to heart. You can devote yourself more wholeheartedly to your duties. You may fear not being up to the task or failing in it. Watch for being too conscientious to the detriment of your health or peace of mind. With moderation, however, this can be a powerful time for getting things done.

-129 Square Uranus - Sun

Challenging longer-term aspect: You are changeable at this time, and people who know you well may wonder if they truly do!

You are less able to tolerate restrictions, orders, demands, and ultimatums. You tend to rebel against authority. This is a time of self-discovery, but your feelings, actions, and reactions can be abrupt.

Expect circumstances to arise quite suddenly that can make you quite "miffed" to say the very least. Matters that were previously settled and agreed upon can come back to haunt you through missed correspondence and messages. Watch for seeking freedom no matter what the consequences. Sudden romance can begin now. More stable influences in the chart can help it to last, but this transit alone tends to point to something sudden and short term. The possibility for mishaps, challenges, separations, or divorces can occur in extreme cases.

Inner changes and struggles occur quite dramatically now, and if your outer world and the people around you are not changing along with you (which is more than likely!), you could feel extremely restricted and restless. Responsibilities that you readily accepted in the past now begin to feel overwhelming. You are likely questioning your life as it has been, and wondering if there is a whole lot more for you "somewhere out there." Others notice your changes and you could alienate a few people in the process.

There is an expression that applies here: "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water." In your attempts to overhaul your life or to rid yourself of limiting conditions, you are prone to making hasty decisions and leaving behind circumstances, jobs, or people that you might one day miss. Remember that the changes going on inside you are rapid and seem very pressing now, but later you might look back on this period of your life as a time when you didn't truly listen to your heart. It would be wise to leave major decision-making to a better period. At the moment, you are not listening to your heart, but rather you are listening to a bruised ego.

Changes seem to be coming from the outside but consider whether they might reflect inner discontent with the routines and responsibilities in your life. Often, this transit coincides with a breakup or separation, either one that seems forced upon you or one that you hastily initiate. You may feel impatience with existing conditions and responsibilities in your life, whether these are a job, relationship, family life, or other situation. The desire to express yourself more freely is strong.

Advice here is to avoid expecting everyone and everything around you to change along with you. Recognize that your urge to rebel comes from a desire for more freedom and self-expression, and find ways to express yourself and your freedom that don't completely upset the things you have worked hard to build. Also recognize that as you listen to a bruised or misbehaving ego, you are prone to ignore your deepest emotions, and as a result you may sever ties that later leave you wanting. It is especially important to be aware of this "blind spot."

-70 Square Neptune - Mars

Challenging aspect: You may be prone to acting on fear or as the result of an overworked imagination during this rather long-term transit that can last for some months. There is a lot of drama in your life at this time! You are far more sensitive than usual. You may sometimes find it challenging to stay in control of yourself and your actions, and thinking things through is also difficult or less natural than usual.

You should stay close to those people who in normal times reassure you. Someone who is able to reason with you and calm you down can be a true help now, but be sure to listen to that voice of reason!

Although your focus may be compromised and physical energy scattered, there is a strong potential for you to improve your intuition and magnetic powers. You may be in the right place at the right time. The effects of this transit will have much to do with the condition of Mars in your chart. You might be tempted to take shortcuts or you often feel that you don't know where you are headed exactly, and attract negative influences as a result. You may feel uninspired or lazy due to lack of motivation or a feeling of being directionless or anchorless in life. You may have a hard time drumming up the confidence to move forward.

On the other hand, you can be extremely inspired if your personality is extroverted, and/or if you work with Neptune instead of against it. Neptune wants you to become more refined with your desire nature, anger management, and assertive tendencies. Incorporating more imagination, compassion, and spirituality into these parts of your personality will help you to not only "manage" the transit, but to learn from it.

55 Trine Venus - Lilith

Positive short-term aspect: This transit can excite your senses and make you especially loving. You are seeking passion from your pastimes and relationships. Your sexual needs are great.

If you are already committed to a partner, you may want to change things up as the tried and true may feel a little tired now. You are seeking more depth on sexual and emotional levels. Time and habit may have changed your relationship, and there could be a temporary block in the sexual relationship with your partner. It's a small problem and may very well resolve itself, or you might find ways to bring more excitement to your life now.

9 Trine Pluto - Lilith

This Pluto transit awakens your subconscious on the level of ambitions and core desires, and particularly on the sexual front. The ideal now is to explore and perhaps live out some of your deepest fantasies and desires. It is important to respect your usual boundaries and a partner if in a relationship. If in a partnership and habits, time, and daily chores have changed your relationship, this may be a time of unrest. You may choose to make a fuss and rekindle their desire so that it matches yours, and work on renewing your mutual love rather than upset the apple cart. Otherwise, it's a time of discovering your innermost or more profound desires.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
