Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

680 Conjunction Mercury - Sun

Positive short-term aspect: Good transit if you are in an examination period or in a competition. This is a fortunate aspect for memory and professional relationships. You are clearer and more witty than usual. A conversation with someone in authority may be enlightening at this time. It is a good time to seek advice as well.

498 Conjunction Venus - Sun

Positive short term aspect: You are feeling especially attractive these days, and that feeling can bring good things to you. It's a good time for love affairs: you are in great form, and you come across as especially attractive. You can have the world at your feet right now as Venus illuminates your Sun sign personality traits and you project these traits in a most pleasing manner.

344 Conjunction Neptune - Sun

Positive long-term aspect: You want to achieve something amazing at this time.

You are seeking perfection on moral or aesthetic levels. In your search for the ideal or the absolute, you become more humane and more protective of other people. Your feelings are sincere. Material matters are the last thing on your mind, and this is good for you to an extent, but keeping your feet on the ground is a good idea. Note that the trine and sextile aspects are easier and more flowing than the conjunction aspect, which can feel more direct and intense.

This can be a time when the unusual becomes ordinary or everyday--life is different, magical, and sometimes confusing. You are more sensitive and open. A new purpose that is more altruistic, spiritual, or less material in nature may come about in the year of this transit.

194 Conjunction Pluto - Saturn

Positive longer-term aspect: This transit lasts several months and often weaves in and out of your life over the course of a year or more. It signals a period when you take your responsibilities to heart. You can devote yourself more wholeheartedly to your duties. You may fear not being up to the task or failing in it. Watch for being too conscientious to the detriment of your health or peace of mind. With moderation, however, this can be a powerful time for getting things done.

140 Trine Mars - Sun

Positive aspect: A period when you may be in top physical shape. From a mental point of view, thanks to your physical form, you can be full of go, confidence, and ready to do a thousand things. You may be full of bravado, courageous, determined, and bubbly. You have more confidence in your ability to get things done, and you are not inclined to stop long enough to doubt yourself.

You should harness this energy and take advantage of this time to tackle projects or problems. Difficulties can disappear - things that previously stumped you might now seem obvious to you. Things are more black and white.

During this period that typically lasts a few days, you are more likely to succeed in what you take on and you're inclined to finish all your jobs. Very good time to enter a competition, whether for sport or business. Some of you might begin a love affair now.

133 Conjunction Saturn - Sun

Positive long-term aspect: You feel more comfortable with who you are during this transit, and this attitude leads to many fundamental benefits. Because you have a more mature grasp of your own capabilities, you project a more responsible, perhaps serious, and self-assured personality to others. You're open to receiving grounded, practical advice. Your life seems more stable during this time period, and you seem to look at yourself with greater reason and realism. You are less vulnerable to self-delusions.

One of the major sources of stress and guilt in our lives stems from uncertainty--undue stress comes from overestimating our responsibilities and inevitably failing to meet them. Things nag at the back of our minds. However, this Saturn transit offers you a nice dose of realism. You see yourself, especially, more clearly and realistically. This transit tends to reduce the uncertainty, at the very least with regards to our capabilities, and offers a welcome reprieve from feelings of guilt and fear. At this time in your life, you know what your responsibilities are, and you meet them.

You are strong-willed, decisive, and persistent. Your sense of responsibility increases. You are rewarded for the work you have done thanks to your application and efficiency. Few or no major problems--life is quiet and without anything unforeseen, unless other major transits happening now strongly say otherwise. You can have a good job, you're loyal and honest and you are appreciated by your superiors for your qualities. This transit usually lasts several months.

-130 Square Mars - Moon

Challenging short-term aspect: This can be a time when you're very quick to become annoyed and easily provoked. Impatience can be a problem now. You can be in a disagreeable mood if you aren't getting your way. You are capable of some childish or impulsive reactions during this transit. Tempers may flare, domestic squabbles are possible, and you can be feeling under the weather. Watch that you're not instigating or looking for an argument or a quarrel. The household could be stormy now. Tone down abrasiveness. Look deeper for the true source of your irritation.

-119 Opposition Pluto - Jupiter

Challenging longer-term aspect: This is a fork in the road transit that lasts several months. It's a transit that can weave in and out of your life over the course of a year or more. You may be tempted to live beyond your means, needing --or feeling that you need--things that cost you dearly. You want to improve your life, but do watch for putting yourself into doubtful situations or attempting big shortcuts. Risks are unlikely to pan out well during this period. However, it is at time to consider making changes--it's just better to avoid going to extremes as you improve your lot in life.

-61 Square Venus - Lilith

Challenging short-term aspect: Your loving feelings are excited at this time. A passionate time that can make you forget the needs of everyday life, and this is a bit worrying! Irritations in a relationship can emerge. A partner may frustrate you right now because of the little stresses of daily life, habits etc. You may want to live intensely on a sexual plane, to explore the depths of your desires, but this may only be a whim. Alternatively, you want more meaningful experiences and pleasures now, but it is best not to jump into or out of something too quickly now.

-39 Square Saturn - Lilith

Challenging aspect: Time for stock-taking, be it on the professional, personal, family, or emotional level. It is difficult to open eyes that have been firmly shut up until now. You could have difficulty assuming your responsibilities, even though you feel you must eventually do so. Problems and life, in general, can feel a little harder than usual or you may feel overwhelmed at times. Remember that this is a cycle, not a dead-end, and that it makes you stronger, prouder, more confident, and more self-assured. Seek the support of mature or experienced people.

-35 Opposition Neptune - Midheaven

Challenging aspect: Your moral standing and honesty may be stained by a scandal, but this is temporary. You can have more problems or worries at this time. During this period, try to be very careful in your professional and emotional life. You must do nothing reproachable. Alternatively, changing attitudes and doubts about your career and overall situation in life can eat away at you now. This problem is particularly strong if you have not been honest with yourself or fooling yourself about where your current life is leading you, or ignoring your dreams and ideals because you feel they are unrealistic.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
