Transits of the Major Planets

The transits of the outer planets, in other words those furthest from the Sun, have the greatest influence and determine the most important events in life. The more distant a planet and the longer it takes on its path around the Sun, the more lasting are its effects. You might see these longer-term transits below for months.

The minor transits, with their rapid movement, only produce fleeting states of mind, or actions of less significance in everyday life. These will appear in your transit report below for a few days.

The information given below is not valid in isolation. One must also take into account the signs of the Zodiac and the houses where these aspects are found. The position of the planets and their aspects in the natal chart must also be taken into account.

The gift of foretelling by the stars requires a lot of work, but also a lot of tact and human feeling. Never make fatal predictions, as everyone can get things wrong.

-269 Opposition Mercury - Sun

Challenging short-term aspect: A time when you may have difficulty concentrating on your work, especially anything intellectual. It's harder to focus, and arguments are more likely than usual. Watch what you say today, because you can easily misrepresent yourself with your words. This is a time when you can overlook important details, so it is best not to sign contracts or lock something down. It can be an absent-minded time when mistakes are made and distractions are plenty.

-232 Opposition Mercury - Mercury

Challenging short-term aspect: You may have problems concentrating on your work. There is a strong possibility of distractions, disagreements, or difficulties focusing and understanding today. Not an ideal time for signing contracts or having important conversations.

-210 Opposition Jupiter - Sun

Challenging longer-term aspect: While this is technically a challenging aspect, it's one of the better ones! Even so, there is a tendency to wastefulness and faulty decision-making due to over-optimism or arrogance now. Avoid making any large purchases during this transit, as you might find that once Jupiter passes, you didn't really need the item. Jupiter boosts your ego, and it is up to you how to handle it. Your ambitions may outstrip your abilities just for now. You may be too vain, impertinent, or self-satisfied. Watch for abusing the good things in life--too many big meals or substantial over-spending, for example. Your methods for achieving success could be against the rules. Avoid making decisions that you know in your heart are not for the better good.

-192 Opposition Mercury - Neptune

Challenging short-term aspect: A time when distractions and dreams can lead you astray or you may lose some contact with reality. You can be prone to forgetfulness today. You might trust people who do not at all deserve it. Watch for taking dreams and wishes for reality.

191 Conjunction Pluto - Mars

Positive aspect: This is a long-lasting transit that may have already been in effect for some time. You have a lot of vitality and can be bursting with energy and passion. You carry out your plans with a lot of style, and you are determined to achieve your objectives. You seem to know when to make the right decisions. You may feel reborn in terms of your sexuality, self-expression, or self-assertion.

-188 Opposition Jupiter - Mercury

Challenging longer-term aspect: If you are now encountering some problems in your communications with others, it may be because you are not listening very well! Likewise, if your business dealings are frustrating at this time, it could be because you are not seeing the trees for the forest. Try not to gloss over critical details, and don't jump into anything without first considering the consequences. This may be an extremely busy time for you--the phone is ringing off the hook, you feel slightly behind in what you're doing, and you can be overwhelmed with all of the activity around you. With everything that is going on, it can be hard to keep track of everything and it's difficult to see things straight. You can be too optimistic about your chances of success and your ambitions are likely greater than your ability or means to carry them out. Be careful not to promise more than you can deliver. You may well have problems if you enter into any commercial transactions in this period. It would be better to avoid starting something brand new on the professional or emotional front during these weeks.

-155 Opposition Jupiter - Uranus

Challenging longer-term aspect: This is a time when you crave release from limiting ideas and situations. There is a stronger desire than usual to be free and independent, and to make some form of breakaway from your past. This could mean a divorce in extreme cases, but can be as simple as releasing a bad attitude or habit. You should watch for exaggerated perceptions, which is something to consider with all Jupiter transits. For example, a tie that previously went unquestioned might now be considered limiting, or you could be seeing people or circumstances as now being "in your way," blocking your desires and plans. Watch that your plans are not beyond your means or ability to carry out. Your emotional or family life could be a little stormy now if you are not self-aware and mindful. Otherwise, if you keep your feet on the ground, it can be a good time to discover new perspectives and methods that you previously hadn't noticed or even knew you needed.

-128 Opposition Mars - Pluto

Challenging short-term aspect: This aspect lasts a few days. Your ambitions are strong but perhaps ruling you in all the wrong ways just for now. Stuff that's been bugging you deeply now comes up and takes over. Watch for attempts to push your will. Be kinder to yourself and others and find satisfying ways to work through anger, such as through physical activity.

-90 Square Uranus - Venus

Challenging, longer-term aspect: This is a transit that can last for many months. This transit often brings with it a breakdown or a separation. You may have an amorous adventure, and a relationship may be stormy and exciting, but not necessarily long-lasting.

You may overspend, and may well have money problems, possibly experiencing ups and downs with money, but more likely, changeable desires and impulse purchases.

Feelings of detachment romantically or sudden love temptations can arise to test you now and most probably both detachment and temptation will greet you alternately or even at the same time, which can make life very interesting and confusing!

New and interesting acquaintances can develop now, or someone new may charm you, and renewed soul contacts can be reestablished. Your intuition is strong at this time and you may want to spend more time discovering yourself.

For some, unfaithfulness is now an issue or this is a very demanding time for love when ultimatums can be given. Old relationships can end and new ones can begin just as quickly.

This is often a less than desirable time for money, taxes, and insurance. Disappointments can come through relationship breakups and hurt feelings. You could very well be the one who is hurting someone's feelings. Make some changes in your present circumstances if you can, although this can be an unsettling or simply on-edge time for emotions and affections.

Vacation plans can go awry and unanticipated circumstances can bring separations. Contracts and agreements can easily be broken and you may be attracted to everything different or unusual in life, although they aren't always good for you.

Short-lived relationships can easily begin now. Physical attractions to others are strong. By the end of this transit, the way you look at money, what you spend money on, and what you need in your life--versus what you don't-- will become much clearer. During the course of the transit, you can be the guinea pig! It's an experimental time. Watch that you don't make people in your life guinea pigs, too. Be clear.

You can experience a strong restlessness now, feeling plagued by the inability to appreciate the usual pleasures or get satisfaction from life.

A need for freedom, openness, and excitement fills you and can bring very unpredictable results. Unreliable people now seem to be the norm. With sexual and emotional expression, you're more uninhibited than usual or you seem to draw in unconventional people to your life. Impulse spending or unexpected expenses can figure strongly. This can be an unfavorable time for dealings with banks.

You want to find new meaning in your life through leisure activities and/or romance. A strong streak of independence can overcome you during this time, upsetting the status quo in your life, and particularly in your relationships. What you previously valued may no longer do it for you. You have far less tolerance for limiting, confining, and restrictive circumstances and people. Positively, you can make some needed changes in your life. You can be creatively inspired and your experiments in creativity and self-expression can open up possibilities. Watch, however, for overly rebellious behavior and insensitivity towards others. Sometimes this energy is experienced in such a way that changes in a relationship seem forced upon you. Keep in mind that you cannot force anyone to do anything, and it's better to give others freedom if they are looking for it.

Strategies: Avoid extreme solutions to regular problems. Aim for more self-awareness and understand your need for change.

-68 Opposition Uranus - Pluto

Challenging long-term aspect: Dissatisfaction with your current situation can dominate now, and you may feel driven to make changes. You can feel as if your life is in a state of flux, largely because you are impatient to achieve your goals or bothered if you haven't handled long-standing problems. Watch for pushing something too fast. Watch for jumping into or out of something too quickly.

-59 Square Neptune - Jupiter

Challenging aspect: How this transit plays out depends a lot on your personality. For some of you, the most important thing during this transit is how to succeed, and to achieve your goals, you are ready to do anything. You might need to deal with deceitfulness and underhandedness in others. Speculation, optimism, restlessness, and perhaps downright foolhardiness can be issues. Everyday life seems too ordinary or boring now, and you wish to explore bigger, more exciting, and more exotic alternatives. Travelling and vacationing can be especially appealing now. In an attempt to deal with inner discontent and restlessness, you may be tempted to take foolish risks. Avoid this, as you are not thinking especially clearly now.

-56 Square Mars - Midheaven

Challenging shorter-term aspect: You have lots of vitality and are very active, but you can meet obstacles on the way to your goals. Under this influence you can be aggressive, lacking in diplomacy, pressing on regardless of the consequences of your actions. On the professional front, you may achieve your objectives but only after a lot of struggles or controversy. You might even be bitterly criticized at this time. On the emotional level, family life or life as a couple may well be troubled and stormy. However, you can smooth things out tremendously if you are able to draw upon patience and strategy rather than simply reacting to stressors.

46 Trine Jupiter - Pluto

Positive longer-term aspect: Events occurring now put you in touch with your deeper desires and perhaps your darker side. It's a time of useful and perhaps intense self-discovery. You can be impatient with the superficial. You are extremely resourceful and might come up with a great idea for a new venture. It's a good time for business, attracting customers, making sales, and improving your reputation or recognition.

-25 Square Uranus - Midheaven

Challenging aspect: Your working conditions may change. You can certainly be less independent or you find it challenging to put up with a boss. You may have difficulty adapting to these changes. You might be moving house or making another life change for which you are not very pleased for the time being.

23 Trine Neptune - Pluto

Positive aspect: Although you may lack reason and logic at times, on the contrary your psychic faculties (such as inspiration and clairvoyance) are highly tuned.

About the Transit Report

This report is designed to show and interpret transits that are within orb on a particular day at the time of day of your visit. The table reflects transits in effect at the specified time in GMT. Some influences come and go on the same day, while others can stick with you for days, months, and even years.

Why do values and orbs change for a particular day? This is because transits keep moving--they don't freeze from midnight one day to midnight the next. Some faster-moving planets, especially the Moon, move into or out of orb on the same day. The above transits are a snapshot at the current time of day.

What do the numbers next to the transit names mean?

The column entitled "Worth" assigns a positive or negative value to each transit. These numbers also appear next to the transit interpretations and are part of a weighting system designed to quantify the relative strength of an aspect. The larger the number, the stronger we expect that transit to be.

With this weighting system, a positive value/worth is considered harmonious, and a negative value is considered challenging. Factors that determine the Worth value are the nature of the planets, aspects, and the orb of influence.

For example, a weight (or worth) of 35 suggests the transit is a harmonious influence of moderate strength. A weight of 420 indicates the transit is quite strong and harmonious. If you see a worth of -10, the transit is relatively weak and disharmonious.

On the other hand, "Orb" values are the exact distance in degrees away from a transit's exactitude. The larger the orb value, the weaker an aspect is. Put another way, the larger the orb value, the greater the distance an aspect is from being exact. An orb of 0°00' is exact, and an aspect with an orb of less than 1 degree (that is, from 0°00' to 0°59') is considered strong. Thus the smaller the orb value, the stronger and more influential the aspect is.
